JUMP JET · HUKAFALLS JET + AJ HACKETT
Taupō Jet Boat & Bungy Combo
A 30-minute river ride and a 47 m leap. Two ways to experience the Waikato.
- 30 minutes Jet boat ride
- 47 m Bungy jump
Jump Jet is the Taupō jet boat and bungy combo pairing Hukafalls Jet with AJ Hackett Taupō Bungy. Both experiences use the Waikato River, at different locations. Choose it if you already want the waterfall ride and the cliff-top jump; the adult package costs approximately US$209. You can arrange the activities on separate days, so the package does not have to mean a rushed, back-to-back itinerary.

This widget books the 30-minute Hukafalls Jet ride only. Bungy is not included; the prices shown here are for the standalone jet boat ticket.
For the complete Jump Jet package, book jet boating + bungy with Taupō Combos. Combo price: From US$209 per adult, checked 14 September 2026. Confirm both activity times and package terms before payment.
What is included in Jump Jet?
The package combines one 30-minute Hukafalls Jet ride and one 47 m AJ Hackett Taupō Bungy jump. The Taupō Combos listing also includes a photo/video package and T-shirt with the bungy. That media inclusion refers to the jump: do not assume it includes jet boat photos or video. Use the Taupō Combos link for the complete package; the GetYourGuide widget above books the jet boat ride separately.
Water touch is an optional request, ranging from a light touch to a dunk where the crew can offer it. You can stay dry instead. AJ Hackett makes clear that river levels and operating conditions mean water contact cannot be guaranteed, even when package descriptions emphasise getting dunked. Read our full Taupō bungy guide if this is your first jump.
What the experience is actually like
Hukafalls Jet: speed, spins and the waterfall
The boat ride mixes speeds of up to 80 km/h, 360-degree spins and an approach to the base of Huka Falls. Native bush and rock cliffs frame the river route. A driver handles the boat while you hold the rails and enjoy the turns; the waterfall is the focal point rather than the whole ride. The advertised 30 minutes is boating time, so allow extra for check-in and the briefing.
This package uses Hukafalls Jet. If you were looking for Rapids Jet’s separate whitewater route, our Huka Falls Jet vs Rapids Jet comparison explains the difference. The river name alone does not identify the boat experience.
Taupō Bungy: the cliff-top leap
The bungy begins on a platform extending over the Waikato gorge. You go through the weight and equipment checks, hear the briefing and approach the edge before the leap. The drop and cord rebound are brief and intense; much of the roughly one-hour appointment is preparation, anticipation and recovery.
Choose dry if the fall is the attraction. Request water touch if the possibility of meeting the river adds to the appeal, and bring a change of clothes. Solo and tandem options are subject to the crew’s participation rules. This is a different kind of thrill from sitting alongside friends in a jet boat, which is why the two activities complement each other.
Is the jet boat and bungy combo worth it?
Jump Jet makes most sense when you want both activities before you see the discount. It adds a longer shared river ride to the short, personal challenge of a bungy jump. First-time jumpers, couples and friends building an adventure day are the clearest fit, provided everyone booking the package qualifies for both parts.
Here is a comparison of the adult operator prices checked on 14 September 2026. Operator prices below are approximate USD conversions, rounded to whole dollars using the Reserve Bank of New Zealand rate for 14 September 2026. Operators may charge in NZD; your payment provider’s exchange rate and fees can change the final USD total.
| Booking choice | Approximate USD amount | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Jump Jet package | US$209 | Hukafalls Jet and AJ Hackett bungy |
| Hukafalls Jet booked separately | US$104 | One 30-minute jet boat ride |
| Taupō Bungy booked separately | US$159 | One bungy jump |
| Separate adult tickets added together | US$263 | US$54 more than the published combo |
The US$54 difference is an illustration using those listed prices, not a guaranteed saving for every date. The Jump Jet page specifies its rate through 30 September 2026, while the individual jet boat page lists a later validity period. Recheck both quotes for your travel dates, including extras and cancellation terms. Sources: Hukafalls Jet prices, Jump Jet and AJ Hackett bungy.
If only one person wants to jump, separate bookings can fit your group better. Non-jumpers can watch at the bungy centre for free and take the boat ride separately. A cheaper package is poor value for someone who reaches the platform and decides they do not want to jump. For a boat-only backup, check the standalone Hukafalls Jet experience on GetYourGuide; that ticket does not include bungy. Compare its own date, price and terms rather than treating it as Jump Jet.
Other adrenaline combos to consider
These three alternatives change one part of your day. Choose the experience first, then compare the approximate USD adult price and the eligibility requirements of each operator.
For three aerial thrills, the Bungy + Swing + Skydive package costs approximately US$367 per person. Treat it as a further upgrade if you actively want all three experiences. For river planning, see our jet boating and rafting guide.
A gentler alternative if bungy is not for you
The Taupō Classic package pairs a 90-minute Māori rock carvings cruise with a 30-minute Hukafalls Jet ride, approximately US$104 per adult, converted from the operator rate advertised through 30 September 2026. It removes the leap and adds a calmer lake experience; the jet boat still has its usual speed and spins. This is a better fit when scenery and shared time matter more than confronting a fear of heights.
Read our jet boat and Māori rock carvings cruise guide for the difference between the lake cruise and the river ride. Check the package schedule and child requirements before paying.
Practical information
Age, weight and participation
For the bungy, AJ Hackett specifies a minimum age of 10 and adult consent for under-15s. Solo bungy is 35–140 kg; tandem has a 180 kg combined maximum and a 30 kg maximum difference between participants. Both participants must qualify, with final approval by the crew. Ask about any child package quote rather than assuming the advertised adult price applies.
Hukafalls Jet requires riders to be at least 1 metre tall and wear the supplied life jacket. Meeting the boat rule alone does not establish eligibility for Jump Jet: the bungy restrictions apply too. Discuss medical conditions, recent injuries, pregnancy and access needs with both operators before booking. See AJ Hackett’s requirements and Hukafalls Jet’s FAQ.
Do both activities have to be consecutive?
No. Taupō Combos’ Jump Jet booking page says separate days can be arranged by contacting the team. Hukafalls Jet describes a different booking flow: check in for the boat ride and receive a bungy voucher valid for one month from issue. Confirm the order and the second reservation with the seller you use; a voucher does not by itself secure your preferred bungy slot.
Allow around an hour for the bungy appointment, 30 minutes on the boat, and extra time for travel, check-ins and waiting. Do not schedule it as a 90-minute door-to-door experience. Hukafalls Jet requires 72 hours’ notice for online combo bookings; call if you want to travel sooner. These scheduling details are published on the Jump Jet booking page and Hukafalls Jet’s booking information.
Getting between the two locations
Hukafalls Jet is at Wairakei Tourist Park, 200 Karetoto Road. AJ Hackett Taupō Bungy & Swing is at 202 Spa Road. Both are on the Waikato, but the boat does not deliver you to the bungy platform and the public Huka Falls lookout is not your boat check-in point.
Plan to self-drive or arrange a taxi unless your confirmation expressly includes a transfer. Parking is available at the bases; bungy parking is free. Use the addresses and your voucher instructions for directions, and allow at least 15 minutes before each booked activity for check-in. If you need transport or accessible boarding, arrange it before paying rather than relying on a same-day solution.
What to wear and bring
Wear comfortable clothes and secure shoes suitable for both activities. Bring your own waterproof layer for jet boating, warm layers in winter, and a towel and change of clothes if you want a bungy water touch. Keep your confirmation handy and secure loose belongings as the crew directs.
Eyewear rules differ: Hukafalls Jet allows well-fitting glasses, while AJ Hackett does not permit your own glasses during the jump and offers prescription safety goggles to discuss with the crew. Do not carry a phone into the bungy simply because you could use it during part of the boat outing.
Cancellation and weather
Hukafalls Jet’s published Jump Jet terms say customer cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable after payment. They state that a cancellation by Hukafalls Jet due to weather or another reason receives a full refund. If booking through Taupō Combos, read its checkout terms and confirm what happens if only the bungy cannot run or one activity has already been used. Do not assume a standalone GetYourGuide ticket’s cancellation policy applies to this operator package.
Bungy may operate in rain, while heavy rain can stop jet boating. Follow instructions from both operators and ask about rescheduling the affected component. Choosing not to jump and the crew cancelling for weather are different situations. Water touch can also be unavailable while the bungy itself still runs. Jump Jet terms and operator weather guidance.

Taupō Jet Boat & Bungy Combo FAQs
What to check before booking Jump Jet.
Jump Jet combines a 30-minute Hukafalls Jet ride with a 47 m AJ Hackett Taupō Bungy jump. Both use the Waikato River, but they start at separate locations.
The adult price checked on 14 September 2026 converts to approximately US$209 using that day’s RBNZ rate. Operator checkout may charge NZD; payment rates and fees can differ. Hukafalls Jet advertises that package rate through 30 September 2026. Check the booking page for your travel date and ask about child pricing separately.
Approximate USD conversions of the checked operator prices are US$104 for Hukafalls Jet and US$159 for bungy, totalling US$263. That is US$54 above the published US$209 combo. Price validity periods differ, so compare actual quotes, inclusions and cancellation conditions for your date.
Yes. Taupō Combos says to contact its team to arrange separate days. Hukafalls Jet describes a bungy voucher issued at the boat base and valid for one month. Confirm the exact process, expiry and both reservations with your seller.
You can request water touch during bungy or choose a dry jump. River levels and operating conditions determine what the crew can offer. Touching or entering the water is never guaranteed.
Taupō Combos advertises a photo/video package and T-shirt with the bungy jump. This does not establish that jet boat photos or video are included. Check your selected package's inclusions.
Bungy starts at age 10, with adult consent for under-15s, and has a solo weight range of 35–140 kg. Tandem has a 180 kg combined maximum and no more than 30 kg difference. Jet boat riders must be at least 1 metre tall. You must qualify for both activities.
Do not assume it does. Hukafalls Jet is at 200 Karetoto Road and Taupō Bungy is at 202 Spa Road. Arrange self-drive, a taxi or a confirmed transfer with the seller, and allow for check-in at both bases.
The jet boat ride lasts 30 minutes; allow around one hour for the bungy appointment. Add travel, waiting and early check-in at each base. The full outing is not a 90-minute door-to-door package.
Hukafalls Jet's published package terms say customer cancellations and no-shows are non-refundable after payment. Operator cancellations have separate provisions. If using Taupō Combos, check its checkout terms. A standalone GetYourGuide ticket's cancellation policy does not apply automatically.
Contact the seller and affected operator about rescheduling or the refund for your booking. Confirm how a partly used package is handled. Bungy may run in rain when jet boating cannot; a cancelled water touch does not necessarily mean a cancelled bungy jump.
Consider the approximately US$104 adult Taupō Classic package with a Māori rock carvings cruise, or Huka Freefall at approximately US$236 with a tandem skydive. These advertised rates run through 30 September 2026. You can also book Hukafalls Jet alone.
Hukafalls Jet requires 72 hours' notice for online combo bookings and asks you to call for travel sooner than that. Availability is not assured. Confirm both activity times before arranging the rest of your day.
